Introduction
The Agricultural Produce Market Committee, Pune, was established on 1 May 1957 to control the sale system of regulated agricultural produce and started its actual functioning on 1 April 1959. The functioning of the Market Committee is carried out as per the Maharashtra Agricultural Produce Marketing (Development and Regulation) Act, 1963. At present, on 24/09/2020, by the notification dated 9/09/2020 of the Hon.District Deputy Registrar of Cooperative Societies, Pune, the Agricultural Produce Market Committee, Pune has been divided and two new market committees have been established, namely, Agricultural Produce Market Committee, Pune for the areas within Haveli taluka and Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation limits and Pune Khadki and Dehurod Cantonment Boards and Mulshi Agricultural Produce Market Committee, Mulshi for Mulshi taluka. The current Agricultural Produce Market Committee, Pune has come into existence from 24/09/2020.
The main market premises of Agricultural Produce Market Committee, Pune is located at Market Yard, Gultekdi, Pune 37, covering an area of 190 acres. Pune Agricultural Produce Market Committee, Pune has been established as per the provisions of the Maharashtra Agricultural Produce Marketing (Development and Regulation) Act, 1963. The main objective of the Market Committee is to establish a legal system in the purchase and sale of agricultural products of farmers, and to meet their needs accordingly, and at the same time to create a system for selling agricultural products of farmers and to ensure that they get a fair price for their agricultural products.

- Providing all the necessary facilities for the business of buying and selling agricultural produce in the market premises.
- Protecting the interests of farmers in agricultural produce.
- Selling agricultural produce through open auction.
- Accurate weighing of agricultural produce sold in the market premises.
- Providing farmers with money within 24 hours of selling agricultural produce.
- Resolving disputes free of cost.
- Ensuring that agricultural produce is not bought and sold at a price lower than the support price fixed by the government.
- Encouraging farmers to increase the quantity and quality of agricultural produce.
- Granting licenses to vendors/traders, porters, weighers, helpers, processors, licenses Renewal, cancellation etc. and
- To inspect the records of accounts and supporting documents of the licensee and certify the accounts/bills as per the provisions of the Market Committee Act and Rules.
