In order to ensure that the agricultural produce entering the market premises should be free from adulteration, Pune Agricultural Produce Market Committee has started the first laboratory in the state, Pune. The following agricultural produce is tested in this laboratory. Trained staff has been appointed for this purpose. Daily samples of agricultural produce like chilli powder, turmeric powder, oil, ghee, flour, maida, sago, coriander powder, tea powder are taken from the market premises and those samples are tested. If the said test report is found positive, further action is taken as per the provisions of the Food and Adulteration Act and the Maharashtra Agricultural Produce Marketing (Development and Regulation) Act, 1963.
